come this july

When July comes and I would just have to stay home full time, what am I going to write under "occupation/position"? When we were in the process of completing the application forms of Kuya for his new school this coming June, I remember writing "HR Officer" a number of times.

So now I am thinking, if there are documents asking for my occupation how am I supposed to answer?Housewife? House GM? Homemaker? Mother? Wife? Mother and Wife? Magtinda kaya ako ng Avon para businesswoman ang isusulat ko. :)

There was only one common question that I hear whenever I would tell someone of my plan "Anong gagawin mo sa bahay nyo?" Am I supposed to do something BIG while I am in the house? Is it really a waste of time to stop being a working mother and just devote your time being a fulltime homemaker? Is it really unimaginable for others that I am leaving a job that according to them is paying me well?

(more than anything else, its our everyday malakas na chikahan that I would miss)

Actually, I feel so pressured whenever I would think about July. I have realized I need to buy a lot of things for my cooking experiments. I should also start collecting recipes for the many breakfasts and dinners that I have to prepare everyday. I also plan to go vegetarian now that I am hitting 40 soon. It's relatively easy to go veggy when you are in the comforts of your home. Just don't ask me to give up my favorite peach walnut cake.

I am also looking forward having my own adorable tea pot for my "tea time" in our lanai every morning while marveling at my well arranged and properly labeled "herb garden". Of course, I will be making my brewed coffee for my 3pm siesta time. Oh.... I need a Mac Air too.

(sorry, i did not remember to take note of the author of this cute image.
I'd like to say thank you to you)

This decision to leave my work was not an impromptu decision, it came when my hubby and I decided to build our home in Laguna several years back. When we permanently moved to our house in 2011 I told myself that I would be away from home only for two years. Longer than that I will go insane. I just needed to put everything in perspective both in the workplace and in my family.

So now I am only waiting for that perfect month to finally be able to give that letter. I am not feeling any sadness yet because all I want now is to restore normalcy in my own home. Mothers should never be away from her children. Husband and Wife should never sleep apart.

But for now, patience is a virtue.

books for April

Because I am a paranoid mother, I don't allow the kids to enroll in any summer lessons (scary thoughts swimming in my mind always). So what hubby did was to buy Math exercises online and assign Monday as  Math Day. Not to be outdone, I got Wednesday naman for Reading. Of course there was whining but only shortlived.

So this weekend, I searched for books for them to read.

I got mine. Paulo Coelho's latest. I'll post when I am done with it.

Now that its summer

Summer this year will be mostly staycation because we need to save money for Kuya's school expenses. When you are just home the tendency is to look for something to be busied with.

DIY project
Instead of being restless due to the very hot weather, we decided to make some sprucing of our "bahay kubo". Hubby repainted and made our grills "glossier". He used paint for the car. sosyal ang grills!

I was there watching him... but dozed off after lunch.

It looked easy at first, but because of the details it took him more than half a day to finish the job. But hubby was proud of it.

I love how it came out. smooth to touch and looks a lot whiter and shinier.

Make it brighter. Our living room
The study table that used to be at the center will be back this June, so for the meantime let this receiving area be a receiving area even for two months.

I badly wanted to put that TV set out but I heard an objection--- Ma, it's for Xbox! Owkayyyy. Sustained.
Gingerbread man had to be relocated too. I know it's out of place, but where do we put him? Definitely not in our waste bin. Aside from Sarah, Gingerbread man has become a permanent and well loved fixture in our house. My angels call him "si SPEX". :)

I always imagine having a nice red fluffy carpet here, but Sarah is a spoiler because she loves to pee in the living room when she is downstairs. When she is upstairs though, she does her thing in the comfort room. what's the difference Sarah?

Flower arrangement from SM Homeworld
I really wanted fresh flowers in the house, but I have to put that on hold until I have the time to manage my house full time. SM did a good job for me. The arrangement looks nice and just perfect for summer.
Hubby: huh?Pang summer lang ba yan?

Pillows to hug
our pillow cases also had a make over. now, they look dainty. it's paired with our new table cloth.

Our dining.
to complete the "summery" atmosphere, we felt we needed to make changes in our dining table too. Summer is indeed an excuse to buy this table cloth. I saw it last Christmas in our favorite "vintage" store, but I found it expensive then, so i chose to go to SM instead.

For our table napkins Gourdos is the place to be!
Since summer spells colors, we got these cool green

and Cuteeee Pink table napkins

Oh wait, when I went upstairs, I saw our angel doing some make over in Anjo's room. Aha! nakiuso!

Rialyn, san mo kinalkal itong dragon na scarf na ito? hahaha! ang baduy.

Ano namang art ang meron dito Rialyn? lol!

Syempre, para sa isang nakakapagod pero masayang araw kelangang kumain naman kami. I checked my cupboard and I found pasta and sauce (Christmas giveaways).

sweet banana from the market. hehehe

our next project is our bedroom. but that would have to wait for two or more years. that's major major.

beat the heat and be happy! thanks for reading.

we must be doing something right

March 20

Anjo going from Blue eagle awardee to Red eagle awardee.
Abi started from NOWHERE to Blue eagle awardee. :)
(both are Gold Eagle in their respective classes)
Red Eagle for Anjo
Her goal is to go up to be Gold next year. Slowly but surely kiddo. We are encouraging Anjo to join Dance Club this year but she said she wanted Reading Club and Arts Club instead. (Ok! Fine! Whatever! :)

Blue Eagle for Abi
With this, I like to say thank you to Ms. Imee for suggesting that for Abi to excel the two must be placed in different sections. At first, I was anxious that Abi might not be able to survive without Anjo by his side all the time, but I was wrong.
When Abi went to another section, his performance improved tremendously and was even qualified to undergo Math Training sessions. Yes, Ms. Imee was right. Abi was able to spread his wings fully. Truly, a child's development does not lie on teachers or parents alone, both must cooperate so that the child can reach his potentials.

March 21

DJ got a medal for non academic awards.

Based on our experience with our eldest, each child is born differently. Each of them has his/her own strength and weaknesses. As parents, we need to support whatever their interest is because it is where they will be happy. There is no sense in forcing your child to be involved in something he/she is not passionate about. But of course, we must balance it with their academics because this will be their foundation when they pursue higher education later.
This coming school year we made a big leap. DJ is moving to a Jesuit Chinese School  where I heard the atmosphere and the activities can be friendly to an introvert like him. Both hubby and I are excited and we have strong hopes that his new school will be able to address DJ's "shyness".
